This chiyogami set brings together twenty patterned sheets of Mino washi and twenty solid-color sheets, forty in all, so there is always a coordinating plain paper on hand for whatever the pattern needs. Colors run bright and varied, and the sheet on top shows a navy floral motif set on cream, the kind of small repeating pattern chiyogami is known for.
The paper comes from Furukawashiko, a Mino washi maker that has been at this since 1835, working with a paper tradition the region itself has carried for around 1,300 years. Fold it into origami, use it to cover a box, or cut it down for cards and collage; Mino washi takes a crease cleanly and holds its color well.
