A glass ornament by Cody Foster & Co, blown and hand-painted to look like an open tin of anchovies, with a dented gold key and rows of shimmering fish laid in neat strips. The dark green tin is illustrated with lemons, a tomato, and a sprig of flowers circling gold script, scattered with little stars.
Cody Foster got his start in folk art as a teenager, opening a small company called Backporch Friends in 1991 at the age of sixteen, inspired by his grandmother, who taught him to design and construct folk art dolls. He renamed the business Cody Foster & Co in 2005 and has kept turning everyday objects into glass ornaments ever since.
It hangs from a gold cord, ready to go straight on the tree, tucked into a stocking, or set on a shelf for anyone who loves a kitchen-themed bit of holiday humor.
