A grinning piñata donkey is a good stand-in for how birthdays feel: a little chaotic, mostly sweet, and worth celebrating anyway. This one, designed by E. Frances Paper, is rendered in loose, colorful watercolor stripes with a gold foil "BOOM." overhead and "Happy Birthday" in matching foil below, the kind of playful detail that suits a friend who likes their cards with a wink. E. Frances, founded in 2013 by two sisters and a cousin and named for their grandmothers Elizabeth and Frances, starts every design as a hand-painted original before printing it in bright color on heavyweight watercolor stock, and this one carries a second illustration on the back as a small bonus. Send it to mark another trip around the sun with a bit of smashing good humor.
