Ohto was established in 1929 in Tokyo and became famous after producing the world's first ballpoint pen with a chrome ball as well as the first 'Made in Japan' ballpoint pen.
A favorite Ohto product of ours is this mechanical pencil designed and made to look like the wooden pencils it replaces - it's actually made from a wooden pencil! A real hexagonal cedar pencil barrel, drilled out to accommodate a mechanical pencil mechanism. There's a brass tip for the lead, and a traditional ferrule around the top of the pencil, with a replaceable eraser.
