Inspired by Canto IX of Os Lusíadas, this bar pairs the green, fruity brightness of blooming pomegranate with the warm bite of ginger, a scent meant to call up the sea routes and far-off gardens that run through the poem.
It lathers into a gentle, everyday wash that leaves skin clean and lightly scented rather than heavily perfumed, so the fragrance lingers as a soft trace rather than a cloud.
Made by Essencias de Portugal, a company working out of Torres Novas, north of Lisbon, that has built its soaps around locally harvested essential oils and botanical artwork wrapped by hand, turning a daily bar into something worth noticing on the sink.
